Boxwood and African Blackwood box

This is a Boxwood and African Blackwood box that I made and entered into the Instant Gallery for the AWGB Festival of Woodturning 2026. It was selected as one of the pieces to go in their travelling gallery that they take to events for the next 2 years.

The box was decorated on my Rose Engine lathe and is 7cm tall and 6cm in diameter. The outside has a 2mm wide box weave pattern, the flower, also in Boxwood, on the lid was decorated with an Arch 7 rosette and the base with an Arch 5 rosette. Finished with multiple coats of spray lacquer and a 4mm red CZ stone in the centre of the flower.
